The AGO Taiwan Chapter announces 2017 Asia Organ Competition which will be held in the National Concert Hall in Taipei in 2017. The contest is open to any organist with citizenship of an Asian country or with an active membership of any AGO Chapter in Asia.
The competition will be held at the National Concert Hall in Taipei, home of the Flentrop pipe organ, the largest pipe organ in Asia at the time of its installation in 1987.* The jury consists of world-renowned concert organists.
Registration begins July 1, 2016
Deadline for preliminary round registration: December 31, 2016
Announcement of competitors selected: January 31, 2017
Competition date July 19, 2017
Competitor age limit: No age limit
- First Prize – $3,000 funded by Rieger Orgelbau GmbH plus an all expenses-paid trip to perform a winner recital in China funded by Shanghai Pi Organ Industrial Corporation Limited
- Second Prize – $2,000 funded by Schantz Organ Company
- Third Prize – $1,000 funded by Zingmore Music Instrument Company
- Audience Prize – $500
